PROJECT CHRISTMAS

Held early November of each year. Christmas wishes are gathered from the current residents of the center. Gifts are purchased and shipped by mid-November for arrival mid-December. Christmas is celebrated in Ukraine typically January 6th, 7th, or 8th and follows the Gregorian calendar.

Funds raised in 2017 = $3,027

DINING ROOM REPAIRS

We would love to help freshen up the dining room. A few years ago we helped with the purchase of custom made tables by a local craftsman. They also received some nice folding chairs from a French church. We would love to be able to brighten this room that is essentially the heart of the center. The linoleum floor gets mopped daily and is seeing quite a bit of wear. It has been many years since the wallpaper was hung and that is beginning to peel away. If you would like to contribute to this project in anyway please contact us.

Estimated costs = $2,000

INSIDE REPAIRS

With 20-30 kids and workers coming and going the entry way takes a beating. Given the harsh elements of the Ukrainian climate snow and mud is tracked in on a daily basis. The plan is to replace the flooring, paint, and some drywall doorway repair. If you would like to contribute to this project please let us know.

Estimated costs = $1,500

EXTERIOR REPAIRS

The cement walkway to the entrance of the center is broken and crumbling. Some of the residents and staff are working to dig   up the old cement and lay paving stones. Additionally, they are extending the area to create paved parking. Currently they park on a dirt patch, and in winter this freezes and can be extremely slippery. In the spring it becomes a muddy mess. If you would like to contribute to this project please contact us.

Estimated costs $300

ONGOING FUNDING

One of the major challenges facing the center is the ongoing monthly salaries to employees even though the salary is extremely low by even Ukrainian standards.  The center employs the following staff to keep the center running smoothly at all times.  Director (1), Caregivers (2 female, 2 male), Nurse (1), and Cooks (3).

Estimated costs = $36,000 per year
